Enterprise Operations Integration for a National Infrastructure Services Company

Client Context
A national infrastructure and field-services company ran its warehouse management (WMS), finance, ERP, and CRM functions as largely separate systems, each supporting its own part of the business. Operations, finance, and customer-facing teams had no shared, real-time view of the data that spanned those boundaries.
The Challenge
This fragmentation slowed decision-making at exactly the points where speed mattered most — inventory and field-operations decisions that depended on finance and customer data the operations teams couldn't easily see, and vice versa. The organization needed a way to connect these domains without forcing a disruptive, all-at-once system consolidation.
Approach
I designed a cross-boundary, service-oriented (SOA) operations portal that integrated WMS, Finance, ERP, and CRM into a centralized process and data hub. Connecting four systems that were never designed to talk to each other required defining a consistent set of service contracts and API-based integration patterns between them, so each system exposed and consumed data through a governed interface layer rather than through brittle, system-specific point connections. Rather than integrating each system pair individually, the hub was built around modeled business capability components, so new integrations and new operational views could be added against a shared capability model instead of one-off connections. This also served as the architectural foundation for a next-generation operations platform the organization was planning.
Outcomes
The operations portal gave previously siloed teams a shared, centralized view of operational, financial, and customer data, cutting manual reconciliation work by 60% and improving cross-domain issue resolution by 35%. The governed API/service layer meant new systems could be onboarded against a consistent interface pattern rather than requiring bespoke integration work each time. The underlying capability model also gave the organization a structured starting point for its next-generation operations platform, rather than starting that effort from scratch.
