Client Context

A global professional and technology services organization was operating HR processes — including recruitment — through largely manual, document-heavy workflows spread across disconnected systems of record. As the organization scaled its workforce, these processes were becoming a drag on both cost and candidate/employee experience.

The Challenge

Leadership needed HR operations modernized without a wholesale system replacement: the goal was to reduce manual effort, standardize how HR capabilities were defined and governed, and lay a repeatable architectural foundation the organization could build on for future modernization — not just fix recruitment in isolation.

Approach

I re-architected the organization's HR business capabilities, modeling current-state and target-state architectures to guide the broader modernization roadmap. For recruitment specifically, I designed an AI-based process combining RPA, OCR, NLP, and ML components to automate document intake, candidate screening, and workflow handoffs that had previously been manual. This was integrated directly with the organization's systems of record rather than run as a disconnected side tool. In parallel, I contributed to the organization's Enterprise Architecture Center of Excellence, helping drive TOGAF adoption and standardization so the capability model and governance approach would outlast the individual project.

Outcomes

The re-architected workflows reduced manual effort in the affected HR processes by 50%. Beyond the immediate automation, the current-state/target-state capability model gave the organization a durable planning tool for sequencing future HR modernization, and the TOGAF-aligned governance work embedded a repeatable standard for how architecture decisions would be made going forward.
